The Walter & Connie Payton Foundation's priority is to help in-need children in the State of Illinois, DCFS. One way we help these children is by gathering surrounding communities to collect school supplies.

What is needed/given?
New backpacks each filled with: 1 pack of pencils, 1 bottle of washable glue, 1 24-count box of crayons, 1 spiral notebook, 2 folders, 1 pack loose-leaf paper, 1 eraser, 1 ruler, 1 watercolor paint set & 1 pair of children's safety scissors.

Who are the supplies given to?
In August, these supplies will be handed out at the Annual Back to School Parade held in the Englewood Neighborhood, which is a low-income neighborhood in Chicago. There are 35 schools in the Englewood area, all of which are "troubled" areas. With the help of the Chicago Police Department, these supplies are given to in-need children at the parade. These children would not be able to start their school year with the proper supplies if we did not help them.

How do we collect these supplies?
Area businesses, along with individual persons, host school supply drives which enable us to give to these children. Supplies are packed into the individual backpacks. This helps us give them away in an orderly fashion, as there is one backpack per child with school supplies in it for that individual child. All businesses and individuals who contribute make his drive a success!

How do you get involved?

  • Coordinate A School Supply Drive!
Please contact us via email at: information@Payton34.com and let us know that you would like to host a school supply drive at your location. You can feel free to start it anytime, but please try to end it no later than August 8th (The Back to School Parade will take place the end of August.) WCPF Staff then collects all the donations from each location.

  • Monetary donations!
Monetary donations are always welcome! Checks can be mailed directly to WCPF to help us purchase supplies. All checks can be made out to WCPF and mailed to: 1905 Marketview Drive #234, Yorkville, IL 60560 c/o: School Drive

  • Donate School Supplies And Drop Them Off At A Drop-Off Location!
Donate a backpack to a local WCPF School Supply Drive nearest you! Click on the tab for 'Drop Off" locations in your area. This year, to help us reach each child with a complete set of school supplies, we would like to encourage everyone to donate a new backpack filled with the following: 1 pack of pencils, 1 bottle of washable glue, 1 24-count box of crayons, 1 spiral notebook, 2 folders, 1 pack loose leaf paper, 1 eraser, 1 ruler, 1 watercolor paint set & 1 pair of children's safety scissors.

Extra Items are always welcome! Example: Highlighters, pencil bags/boxes……

Helpful Hint: Please try to keep all purchases genderless, so any item can be given to a boy or a girl. Good colors are red, blue, green, yellow, orange and black. Picture folders are fun, but again please try to stick to something a boy or a girl would enjoy…Example: animals or cartoon characters or just plain colors are good.
